Active schools is all about working together to become more active.

Active School Committee

In our school we have an Active School Committee with representatives from all classes.

The committee will help to organise activities and come up with new ideas. Our committee meets every 2-3 weeks and we discuss news, ideas and talk about ways we can become Active every day.

Our 5th and 6th Class members organise the Playground Leaders and Equipment Monitors.

The senior committee members visit the classes to check and see how the activities are going and they help the younger committee members to give messages to the teachers.

Active School Slogan

We asked all the classes to design some posters and slogans for Active Schools. The committee met and picked a slogan that we all agreed would be good to use as our official Active School Slogan.

We picked a nice, catchy slogan by Luke Donnelly.

Irish Heart Foundation Active Schools

Our school took part in the Let’s Get Active Award – 4 Week Activity Challenge.

During the Irish Heart Foundation’s 4 week challenge the children used a pocket planner to track how much activity they did each day.

The children really enjoyed the activity challenge.

The school community was active during and after school.

After the 4 weeks – each child was awarded a certificate of achievement.
