Biodiversity in the School Garden

Heritage in Schools announced 100 free visits for schools during Biodiversity Week (19th to 28th May 2023). We were very lucky to have Ann visit our school on May 19th.

Each class got the opportunity to explore biodiversity around our school environment. Ann carried out some observation with the senses outside using apps to identify what we see and hear. The children in other classes got involved in an activity called the “Web of Life” which they really enjoyed. She provided the children with magnifying glasses and tubs and the children went on a nature walk around the school.

Ann also provided us with videos and links on biodiversity. These included; stories about insects and the Armagh Tree Fairies which are connected to our native trees and mythology.

A really enjoyable day had by all!
